Electrical Engineers
You will be involved in the design and development of new products for the telecommunications market. These positions require analog and digital design experience in a research and development environment, a proven track record of design accomplishments and a BSEE or MSEE degree. Prior telecom experience and design of switching power supplies and rechargeable battery powered equipment, state machines using FPGAs, embedded controller applications or high speed analog circuitry required. Development of telecom products relating to LAN/WAN technologies is highly desired. You must have solid experience with modern design techniques and tools such as HDLs, Xilinix or Altera design tools, timing analysis tools and techniques, and high speed PCB design techniques. Programming knowledge of "C" or equivalent language highly desirable. Also Available: Recent College Graduates to design products for Data communications markets.

Mechanical Engineers

In these positions you will lead the component design of magnetic tape drives to ensure continued development of high performance products. They require a BSME and 5 or more years product development experience with high seed precision mechanisms or related high technology products. Control Systems Engineers (Tape Drive Devices) The candidates selected for these positions will design and analyze/simulate DC motors, stepper motors and there associated control electronics and other electromechanical devices for tape drive design. You must be familiar with motors, sensors and servos. These positions require a BS/MS/Ph.D. in EE or Computer Science (MS/Ph.D. preferred). Also required is 5 - 7 years experience in a related field working on servo control (continuous and sampled) and electromechanical devices and extensive knowledge of both classical and modern control theory. Systems Simulation Engineer
The responsibilities for the person filling this position will be to perform system modeling and simulation of optical communication systems and to participate in definition of new product capabilities. You must have the ability to develop complete simulation suites including theoretical modeling and scientific programming, and hold good interpersonal skills. You need a good understanding of fiber propagation modeling including Non-linear Schrodinger equation and Split step Fourier techniques. Knowledge of optical nonlinear ties: Self phase modulation, Four wave mixing, Cross phase modulation, and Soliton propagation are also needed. A MS/Ph.D. with 5 years experience in ad vance optical communication system design or a recent Ph.D. with particularly relevant thesis work is also required.

Persons chosen for these positions will be responsible for the development of active optical devices (semiconductor lasers and amplifiers, high speed modulators) for use in company products. Setting up a qualification program, writing of specifications, dealing with vendors and investigating novel technologies and new supplier opportunities. Associate Principal Engineer Photonic
Your duties in this position will be to investigate and/or develop technologies in support of next generation optical amplifiers and associated devices. Investigations include semiconductor amplifiers and advance techniques for Erbium doped fiber amplifiers. Systems Test Engineer
DSL Interface - EMS
This position is responsible for system level
testing of Dense Wavelength Division Multiplex optical transport systems. You will
work with customer certification testing groups and serve as the liaison between customer
test groups and product engineering.
The duties for this position are to develop and execute test plans including the following
areas: SONET interface compliance, optical transport, performance management, fault
management, and TMN element manager. You must have a strong knowledge in SONET, optical
transport, transport systems in general and have the ability to resolve complex issues
that may require design trade-offs. You must be able to "size-up" design impacts
of enhancement requests to hardware, software and mechanical devices. Knowledge of Network
Element to Operations Systems relationships: q3 interface, TMN, GDMO, information models
desired. Lead Engineer Passive Component Hands-on experience with a variety of optical
components used in fiber optic systems along with fiber optic handling & splicing and
fiber optic device testing and measurement skills will put you in the running for one of
these positions. You also will need to be computer literate, preferably with some
programming and computer interfacing ability for laboratory automation.
The duties for these positions include: Develop and maintain specifications for passive
optical components Setup and maintain the passive component evaluation laboratory Evaluate

Opto-Mechanical Engineer
Associate Principal
Persons with the ability to design and
prototype novel optical devices for use in WDM communications systems and mechanical
fixtures, packages and housings will fit the bill for these positions.
You must be a creative and original thinker, a team player, be literate in mathematics,
have fiber optic experience and worked with machine vision and industrial controllers. You
also need to have a strong track record of novel opto-mechanical design and development,
be proficient in a wide variety of bulk and fiber optic technologies and hold strong
mechanical and prototyping skills. Experience in CAD and proficiency in lens design and
ray tracing and an "I Can Build Anything" attitude also needed. Your education
should include a B.Sc., M.Sc. or Ph.D. in optics, mechanical or electrical engineering,
physics or related field. Five years industrial experience is preferred in
telecommunications.
Lightwave Systems Engineer - Product Development A MS or Ph.D. with 5+ years experience and familiarity with computer controlled test equipment and procedures along with experience in manufacturing optical communication systems could get you an interview with this hiring manager. Your responsibilities will require you to assist in the design, assembly and characterization of WDM systems including optical amplifiers, multiplexes, demultiplexers and source lasers. You will also be responsible for Erbium amplifier design and performance characterization and be required to assist in developing manufacturing strategies. You must have an understanding of optical communication system fundamentals and performance constraints. The ability to trouble-shoot system problems to the subsystem or component level, have knowledge of opto-electronic devices and subsystems and be capable of filling a technical leadership role for junior engineers.
